Lanai project~by Beth

I decided to spruce up the lanai since we had not done anything with it.  Pretty plain, huh.

Jon had picked up a carpet piece off the side of the road some months ago, unused.  I had to cut the edge straight for a usable piece.  With the help of my utility knife, Amish yardstick, and cup of coffee, I made quick work of it.

Here is the palette of color I used to stencil.  We used the colors of some material I purchased for pillows.

I selected a butterfly theme and began to stencil the first color.  Then go in and clean.  Stencil next color, go in and fold laundry.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  You get the idea.
With new chairs and small table as a gift from the children, and a pair of wrought iron butterfly wall art, and the pillows I made, here is the finished product.  What do you think?

As the weather cools, we will be using this a lot.  Grandma and Grandpa will be here soon and can test it out.

Chickenpox-by Beth

About 2 weeks ago we discovered that Johanna had been exposed to Vericella, or Chickenpox, and had come down with a case of it. Now the rest of the crew that have not had it, 7 in all, have also succumbed to it. Well, that is, all but David. We are so thankful it happened during our Spring Break since every one is home and there are not many outside obligations. Emma has been especially covered with pox and feeling kinda sad. So, a call today from Katie in Texas remedied that. She said to look in my inbox of my e-mail for these photos. Aren't they sweet? The first one is the bottom one, then top next, and middle last. When uploading the photos they decided to change order all on their own :-)

Home School Evaluations

This post is to let people who may read this blog know that I am a Florida Certified Teacher, and am available for evaluations of Home School students of any age. Families differ in their times of reporting to the School District, so you can call me any time of the year. My fees are $35.00 for the first child, and $10.00 for each additional child. Feel free to give me a call at (239)458-5687 at home or (239)677-1491 on my cell.

My Two Worlds Met

Tuesday, January 10th was a special for me (Jonathan) as two of my "worlds" met each other. It was at Fort Myers Christian School, and the FMCS Eagles were playing the Lee County Home School (LCHS) Ambassadors in Basketball. FMCS is where I work as a Math Teacher, and LCHS is where I coach for basketball. For the most part, I knew almost everyone in the gymnasium yesterday. Students, players, coaches, parents, and even the referees were familiar to me. It was a fun day. Today, as I came to school, the students asked me who I was rooting for during the game. "Both teams, of course!" was my answer. I was happy to see good play by both teams!

We'll do it again on January 30th, except this time the girls will also play, including two of my girls. So I'll be more biased next time toward the Lady Ambassadors!
