Stephen's New Clothes~by Beth

God's people are so awesome!! Stephen was just blessed by a family with some new, used clothes. He looked so adorable in his new Adidas shirt and shorts, and Nike shoes, I just had to take a shot. He was thrilled too.

Soccer 2011~by Beth

We played our first games of soccer this Spring season today. We played a team that has players who play competitively so we were very much outmatched. Even though our league is a Christian one, the team we played is a charter public school and has about 600 students to choose their teams from. For the girls game the coach had mercy on us and played the second half with our team having an extra player and told our ref not to call offside. They also passed around a lot and did not take all the shots they could have. Our girls played their hardest but lost 9-1.
For the boys' game we seemed to be outmatched and out manned. They had a full bench of 16 players and we had 6. We played the whole game 6 on 7. The boys' coach did not have mercy on us. But several of our boys have a lot of soccer experience and all of them have tons of heart. We managed to score three times despite often being double and triple teamed. The game ended with a goal and then a hand ball in the box, so they also got a penalty kick. The boys score was 7 to 3. We are looking forward to our other games where we are not so over matched.
This was also Emma's first experience playing any sports. She was so thrilled. Over the weekend she was quite sick with a deep cough way down in her chest. She told me "I hope I am better in time to play my first game". She recovered (still with a nagging cough) and was so excited all day. So here are some pics.
Caleb reffed the girls game and Zach coached for the first part of the first half until the girls coach got there. David is playing goalie while Zach is reffing. Charity and Christiana also play with the girls team.

A Granddaughter~by Beth

Two weeks ago Nathan and Hannah had a baby girl named Lydia Elise. She weighed 9 lbs. 7.5 ozs and was 23 inches long. She was delivered safely at home with Hannah's sister as the midwife. We can't wait to see her next month, Lord willing.

The End of Another Basketball Season~by Beth

Our season ended. The boys went to the state tournament as the #1 seed from our conference. We played the eventual winner of state first and lost. Single elimination means that the boys played the consolation round. Caleb and Zachary are in the team photo. We will be losing 7 seniors, most of whom are starters. Here they are holding the regional trophy. The girls were undefeated and went in as #1 seed also. They lost their final game but bringing home the 2nd place trophy. We are so proud of our players and children. Christiana is in front with #24 uniform.
